Last year while I was pregnant we went apple picking for the first time and absolutely fell in love with the activity. We promised ourselves we would go back this year with Kai and make it an annual fall tradition. A couple of months ago we made good on that promise and took Kai out in to the apple orchard at Apple Holler and had the most wonderful afternoon walking around and picking all the different kinds of apples. The apples we picked off the tree were Kai's first apples he ever had, too! We did the same thing back in July with peaches. We've always been big on the freshest ingredients for our food and it doesn't get much fresher than right off the tree!
Sweater weather is honestly my favorite time of the year. I love the feeling of being cozy and warm but while the air is crisp. Don't get me wrong, I love summer, but I love fall even more. I've always been in love with white/cream colored sweaters...I have way too many but I personally think they go so perfectly with everything. I like the way this white sweater breaks up the navy between my vest and my jeans. I also love my Hunter boots so much! They are perfect for this time of year when we get random snow falls and the ground gets messy. They are also surprisingly warm, and I can't recommend them enough. Half of Kai's wardrobe is from Gap, ha! I just love their baby boy cloths for their simplicity. They tend to always be having a sale, too, so it makes buying nice cloths for Kai way more affordable. Their Black Friday sale at the end of this week is going to be excellent! They are doing 50% off plus another 10% off your whole purchase and the sale is also available online. I know I'll be snagging a lot more cute sweaters for Kai for some Christmas presents. Speaking of sales...Freshly Picked is having their semi-annual sale right now, too! They are having up to 50% all over their site, which is a big deal. Their shoes are on the expensive side and they rarely have things on sale. Plus if you are a Fringe member you can apply your 20% member discount to the sale prices! These are my favorite baby shoe brand for Kai because they actually stay on his little feet. He's going to start walking soon, so I'm going to be stocking up during this sale big time! Follow me on Twitter for my daily ramblings on #momlife!

Hey there, friends! I hope you all are having the best week. This past weekend we went out to Ohio to visit our family and go to a bridal shower! We took advantage of the amazing fall weather that Toledo was having and went to the farmer's market downtown and grabbed some coffee + crepes for breakfast before the shower. We walked around the market and Kai napped in one of our Wildbird slings and it was all just so cozy! It was the perfect fall day.

I feel like I've really got the mom look down lately and I'm not mad about it at all. Give me a cozy sweater and comfy pair of jeans any day. I recently found this gorgeous cream sweater at Banana Republic and just had to have it. Thankfully their Friends & Family event is going on right now so you can snag it too for 50% off when you use your Gap, Banana Republic, or Old Navy card. These jeans have also quickly become my absolute favorite pair. I traded in a couple of old ripped pairs of jeans at Madewell a few weeks ago and was able to get $20 off them! I really love Madewell's trade in program as it is such a good way to recycle old jeans that can no longer be worn or donated. These new jeans that I got though are called the Roadtripper jeans and they are about the comfiest pair of pants that I've ever owned. And then these black loafers that I have...oh my goodness they are heaven on my feet. I basically wear them every day! They are so comfortable and go with everything.
I try to dress Kai as comfy and cozy as possible, too. With the weather getting cooler I of course try to keep him warm but I also don't want to overheat him. That's one thing we have to be careful about mamas...we can't overdress our babes and make them sweat and get uncomfortable. I've found that when it's in the 50s, Kai is perfect with pants and a sweater. So I always bring a cardigan or zip up with us plus a blanket to keep over him in his stroller. I'm super obsessed with this avocuddle onesie, too, that I go for him from Lavender Sun! Avocados are one of our favorite foods so it just fits us so perfectly. I tend to be a little picky when it comes to picking out onesies and clothing with sayings on them, but Lavender Sun has so many cute options! I find all of them hilarious and literally want every single one of them. Plus their material is so nice and soft, so whenever I dress Kai in their clothes, I know that he's comfortable. I hope you all have a cozy rest of the week! Make sure you're following along on Instagram as I'll be hosting a Tiny Talk tonight at 7 PM CST!

Hi friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Ours was really fun. We spent a lot of time with family and also went to the Air and Water Shower in Chicago! Kai loved being by the lake and watching all the planes. We used these headphones to protect his ears since the planes are really loud and they worked so well! I definitely recommend picking up a pair for your babes for any events that you plan on going to that will be loud.
We've had a lot of really fun weekends lately! Last weekend we went to the carnival by our house as a family. We got some cotton candy and lemonade and walked around all the rides and games. Kai loves looking at all the lights and prizes at all the stands. In a few summers he'll be able to go on some of the rides! I've really been trying to cherish every moment with him this summer. I read something at the beginning of summer that went something like this "we only get 18 summers with them, make every one count." I really thought about this because it really is true. I want to fill our summers with carnivals, peach picking, farmer's markets, vacations, road trips, camping, bonfires, outdoor movie nights, and so much more. As this first summer is coming to a close soon, I look back and can't help but smile at the memories we made these last couple of months! At the beginning of summer I bought this dress from JCrew and I've been wearing it so much all season! It is such a fun color and I just love the ruffle details at the bottom of the dress. It just adds a little extra to the dress, don't you think!? It has a v-neck top that has a little clip on the inside to keep the girls nice and tucked in but you guessed it, it's really easy to unhook and nurse Kai, too. It's so comfy and just the perfect dress for summer! The best part though? It's 60% off right now! You can't beat that! I chose to wear it with a fedora (I wear hats so much in the summer to keep my hair at bay) and some simple slip on sandals. Of course I put Kai in my Hoopoe WildBird ring sling to walk around and still be able to eat my cotton candy hands free ;) I got this cute little overall + bandana bib set from Target not too long ago, so I can't believe it's not available anymore! I love the grey color though and the pop of red. I tend to really gravitate towards neutral colored outfits for him and then add fun things like bibs, shoes, and hats. I finally created a Facebook page for Tiny Dapper Fox, so make sure you go Like it for all the latest info, Instagram snaps, and post alerts! I have a couple of big announcements coming this week!

Traditions are so important to me. I always loved when I was younger those memories of doing something special every year as a family and I would look forward to those things every single year. As Caleb and I started dating and got married we slowly started our own traditions that I truly love. However, now that we have Kai, we're slowly starting more and for some reason they all feel so big and important. Last year we discovered this wonderful apple orchard just north of our house in Wisconsin and we found out that they have peach picking in July/August! We promised ourselves that we would go this year with Kai. We went a couple of weekends ago and had the best afternoon. We bought some goodies from the orchard market that we had for lunch and went out in to the orchard and picked a bunch of peaches! They allow you to eat as many peaches as you want when you're out in the orchard so we snacked on some while we picked out the best ones to bring home with us. Kai loved it so much and we definitely started a new tradition. We've eaten so many of them here at home, made peach cobbler, and made homemade peach puree for Kai to have for breakfast! I love that his first taste of peaches comes from ones that we picked right off the tree with him. We can't wait to go back next month for apple picking!
I got this shirt from Anthro last month and have been living in it. It's so light and airy plus it's a button down and guess what that's good for....yep, nursing the Bear! With everything I buy these days I always have that factor in mind. While I don't mind pulling a strap down or lifting my shirt to nurse him, there is just something so nice and easy about a button down. I also love the little tie in the front and how it's a bit oversized. I feel so comfortable in it and to me that is so key when it comes to buying clothes these days. I'm all about that functional fashion now. Plus, it's currently on sale! I paired it with a pair of white denim shorts and a Panama hat to keep the sun off my face a bit. Remember when I said Kai Bear was a serious outfit repeat offender a few posts ago? Yeah, same overalls, ha! I just couldn't resist putting him in them because they say "Locally Grown." Get it?! Yes, I'm very cheesy when it's comes to our babe. This time though I paired it with just a white onesie for a little bit of simplicity and to keep him cool on a warm summer day. Oh summer, how I love you. I love warm days with the sun shining down on my face and feeling the warmth just all around me. After our long Chicago winters, I always long for summer days. A couple weeks ago we took full advantage of summer and made a small day trip to Lake Geneva. We had a beautiful day of exploring the quaint little shops, indulging in some chocolate and ice cream, and just enjoying the water. Of the whole time we spent out there though, my favorite moment actually though was when it was time to feed Kai. I sat down on a bench next to the harbor and just watched the water gently move. It was so peaceful and happy. We've had what you can call one of the toughest months of our lives this past month but in the midst of all the craziness, I come back to this moment and find some peace and love.
I wore this cute little dress from the Rachel Parcell Everyday Shop on our little day trip and it was the perfect pick for the day. It's super lightweight and it buttons down the front, so it was perfect for nursing Kai. I was able to discreetly feed him out in the open yet we were both comfortable and not too hot. The dress is still available online and I hear that she's having a major sale on almost all her items starting tomorrow! She is having a pop up shop at the Rachel Parcell Office in Utah and there's talk of including the sale online so that everyone can shop it. I also am completely in love with these wedges. I've been wanting them for a couple years now and finally pulled the trigger last month. They always seem to be out of stock when I go to buy them but Shopbop finally seems to have a good inventory of them because they are still available! I love how neutral they are and they are so comfortable! Our day in Lake Geneva was the first time I wore them and I was comfy in them the whole day. Kai's cute little Locally Grown outfit from Target is quite literally my favorite outfit he has. I dress him in it all the time. His 6 month milestone photos? Yep, this outfit. He's a serious outfit repeat offender but oh well! I love that the overalls are short and keep him cool and the color is just so cute. I almost always have a bandana bib on him to catch all that baby drool and spit up that happens throughout the day so we don't have to do a bunch of outfit changes all day every day. That's my little mom hack for the day for all of you! The one he's wearing here says "New to the Crew" which is just so perfect because we call ourselves the Cabrera Crew. Kai's Mimi bought it for him back when he was first born and I believe she got it at TJ Maxx. TJ Maxx is so great for baby stuff because it's cute but actually reasonably priced! So when in doubt, TJ Maxx it is. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week and be sure to follow me on Instagram for some daily dose of the Cabrera Crew! |
